Volunteering is a great experience. It allows you to help make L.A.B. a fantastic event, offer skills that are beneficial to the organizers and help your pocket book by donating your time in exchange for a registration discount.

If you would like to volunteer for the event, please complete the volunteer application.
In the application, you:
No less than two weeks prior to the event, we will email the volunteer schedule and information on how to complete payment (if applicable). Registration balance is due no later than Friday, February 16, 2018.
***Volunteer hours are subject to slight modifications as needed by L.A.B. 2018***
The volunteer discount can apply to all pre-pay passes, including All Access Pass, Single Day of Classes (Saturday or Sunday), and Dances Only.
Note: When creating the schedule, preference will be given to those interested in attending the entire weekend.
Volunteer hours are NOT first come, first serve. We are looking for reliable volunteers with a good track record. Please use the section on the application to provide references for other events/dances for which you have been a volunteer.
We will send out the schedule about two weeks prior to the event. Registration balance is due no later than Friday, February 16, 2018.
Note: If you mark that you can only work set up and/or take down, it is unlikely we will accommodate your request. Volunteers are needed during the classes and dances for no more than one hour shifts at a time. Be a team player and give us something to work with so we can give you hours (and a discount!), which will help the event can run smoothly.

If you are unable to complete the job assigned to you, L.A. Blues will attempt to make accommodations, up to and including, finding a job that is better suited to your abilities. If accommodations are not possible, the volunteer shift and applicable discount will be assigned to someone else and you will owe L.A. Blues the discount you received for that (unworked) time. SO, please advise us in advance of anything that might affect your ability to perform certain duties in the comments section of the volunteer application.
If you confirm you are available for your assigned volunteer hours* we expect you to 1) show up for your shift(s) on time and 2) be ready to complete your assigned task. If your task is unclear and/or you don't know where to go, ask someone on the L.A. Blues team for help/clarification. It is unacceptable for volunteers to sit around and wait to be told what to do by someone on our staff.
If you are unable to make the event or any of your volunteers shifts, please contact us (email: email@example.com or call: number to be provided on the volunteer schedule) as soon as possible. If it is during the event, please call immediately. If you do not let us know and do not show up, you will not be allowed to volunteer at future do Something Blue/L.A.B. events.
*When you receive your schedule from L.A.B., it is your responsibility to review it and ensure you are 1) able to perform all duties and 2) available for all assigned shifts. If you need to make a change for any reason, you must contact firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible. Include your full name, phone number, email address, and the change you are requesting. If we are able to accommodate this change, we will contact you to confirm. If we are unable to accommodate your request, the volunteer shift and applicable discount will be assigned to someone else and you will owe L.A. Blues the discount you received for that (unworked) time.
You help this event run! If you do not show up for a volunteer slot, we expect you to pay back that time by checking in with the Shift Lead on duty to find a time you can make up your missed shift. If there is not an opportunity to make up your missed shift, you will be required to pay for the time of your volunteer shift you missed.
You must contact your L.A. Blues Organizer and/or Shift Lead if you are going to be late. Call as early as you can to give us time to plan around your absence.
If you are more than 15 minutes late to an assigned shift, you will be considered a no show for that hour and we will expect you to make that time up (in 15 minute intervals) or pay for the missed shift (in 15 minute intervals). You will not be considered late or a no show for any subsequent hours if you show up and complete them. For example, if your shift is from 3:00PM-5:00PM and you arrive at 3:18PM, you will be marked as present from 3:30PM-5:00PM and must make up thirty minutes of volunteer time. If it is not possible for you to make up that time, you will be required to pay for the time of your volunteer shift you missed.
The best plan? Arrive early for your shift!
